The Trip’s Over (& I’m Out)

Well it took a while but the trip back was pretty painless, what with the complete lack of sleep whilst I was away resulting in a 6 hour crash out on the flight.

I certainly can’t pretend to know San Francisco well, having only been twice for around a week in total but, of the various US cities I’ve been to, I think it’s my favourite. There’s a terrific combination of personal appeal – the sea, approach to lifestyle etc – and professional appeal (being global HQ for the web). So, despite (because?) I’m currently trashed and having been absolutely 100% immersed in work since first switching on my mac en-route to the outbound flight four days back, I’m already looking forward to heading back.

Weirdly, a friend and former colleague of mine got in touch with me via facebook last time I was over there, at which point he had relocated to Cupertino and was working for Apple. Having not spoken to him in the intervening 12 months, the exact same friend contacted me again, one hour prior to departure. Hopeless of me to not have picked up the phone to him in advance really and I know that a tweet was most likely the reason for it but even so, it still struck me as highly bizarre. Next time Mr Pope, next time…

James Ryder of web agency Willoughby Stewart tipped me off about this new blog, from a Mr Sergey Brin, (I’m sure I’ve heard his name somewhere before) called ‘Too’. He says:

Welcome to my personal blog. While Google is a play on Googol, too is a play on the much smaller number – two. It also means “in addition”, as this blog reflects my life outside of work“.
